Girls Win EBAL Championship!!!
The 2012 EBAL Championship came down to the last event, but the girls team were victorious, winning the league championship by 4 points over Amador Valley. The Wolves got some great individual performances from Sarah Herron who was a double league championship with wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, respectively. Sarah also helped the girls 4x100 relay team run a close second to MV with a great time of 49.06. The team of Emily Evans, Alina Sinclair, Sammi Kruger, and Herron moved up to number 5 all time in school history. Sarah was also second in the girls long jump. Sammi Kruger finished second in both hurdles races, with her time of 45.64 in the 300 hurdles moving up to #8 all time in school history. Other notable marks on the girls side were Christine Bayliss' double top 3 finish in the 1600 and 3200, as well as Kaitlyn Eklem and Emily Evans moving on the 800 and 200. Lauren Larson improved her top ten pole vault mark by vaulting 9'11" to finish second in the event. The boys team finished a respectable third at the league championships. Parker Deuel won the 3200 after a 2nd place finish in the 1600. Trevor Holmgren won the 800 with a mark of 1:54.10. Colin Barber was a double winner in the long jump and pole vault. Both frosh-soph teams were also league champions. The boys were dominant, winning by over 60 points, while the girls had a very balanced victory. Notable performances on the frosh-soph level were Wade Wilson winning three championships in the 4x100 relay, 400, and 200. John Marx won the boys 100, and Jason Intravaia won the 1600. Sean O'Brien won the FS pole vault. Mikaela Gwynn won the girls 400. Overall, it was a great weekend for the young Wolves' program. It points to great things to come in the coming years.
EBAL Championship Week!
San Ramon hosts the entire league this week for the EBAL Championships. Trials for frosh/soph are Wednesday, with the top eight qualifiers making it to Saturday. Varsity trials are Thursday, with the top eight qualifiers making it to Saturday's finals. In Saturday's finals, the top six in each individual and relay event qualify for the NCS Tri-Valley meet the following week. Come on out and support your athletes, as well as volunteer a shift or two to help make the meet the best in recent memory. Tradition Continues at Sacramento MOC
The Sacramento Meet of Champions has traditionally been the springboard to the post season for many past Wolves track and field teams. This year's meet was no exception. The meet started off with a season best by the girls' 4x100 relay, running a time of 49.83. The team consisted of Anyel Thomas, Alina Sinclair, Devyn Holliday, and Sarah Herron. Sarah Herron continued her incredible freshman season with two impressive times in the 100 and 200. Her time of 12.28 places her #3 all time in school history for the 100 meter dash, while her 200 time of 25.17 places her #2 all time. Carly Lutz saw a nice improvement in her 3200 time, as did Jake Pisenti. Sammi Kruger set a season best in the girls' 300 hurdles. The invitational portion of the meet saw more movement in our top ten lists. Trevor Holmgren moved up from 8th to 5th in the 800, running a time of 1:54.09. The meet concluded with the the boys' 4x400 relay team of David Griffith, Declan Rosdahl, Trevor Holmgren, and Blake Rogers running a season best time of 3:23.86. While they only finished 8th in the race, this was a huge improvement on the season, and will springboard them into the post season. Pasta Feed 5/3

Colin Barber Sets School Pole Vault Record!
Colin Barber broke the school pole vault this past weekend by vaulting 16'1'. He broke the previous record held by Rhett Summervill of 16'0.75". Colin also had several good attempts at 16'7". He is now ranked fourth in the state and this builds some nice momentum for the end of the season. Kevin Tuckness improved upon his top ten mark by vaulting 14' in the same meet. Congrats to both vaulters as we look forward to even better marks as the season progresses.
New School Record Set at West Coast Relays!
The incredible start to the season for freshman Christine Bayliss continued in Clovis when she set a new school record in the 3200, passing Tina Bowen to take the #1 spot all time. Christine's time of 10:48.43 beat the previous mark of 10:49.90 set in 1994. Amazing! Christine also moved into the #2 spot all time in the 1600 with a time of 5:04.96. She will look to pass Tina again later in this season. There were some other good performances at the West Coast Relays beyond just Christine's. Sydney Biekert joined the top ten list in the girls' high jump with a mark of 5'1". She is tied for 10th all time with Ariana Dabier. The wet and windy conditions hampered some of out other athletes and their times and marks, but given the conditions the times were very respectable. The girls 4x100 relay improved their time to 50.42. Both of our 4x400 relays were victorious in their heats, earning great times despite the conditions. We hope to keep the momentum going this week in our tri-meet with Cal High and Foothill.
First Tri-Meet a Mixed Bag for Wolves
The first tri-meet for the 2012 season was a mixed result for the Wolves. The girls' team won easily over both Amador and Granada, while the boys' team split, falling to Amador 80-56, while squeeking by Granada 69-67. The girls' team is 2-0 on the season, and the boys are 1-1. Highlights from the meet include Sarah Herron joining the top ten board in the long jump with a mark of 16'4.50". She scored 20 points by winning four events; the 4x100 relay, 100, 200, and long jump. Colin Barber scored points in 4 events as well, winning the pole vault and long jump, while coming in third in the 300 hurdles and triple jump. Parker Deuel won both the 1600 and 3200, and Trevor Holmgren won the 800. Sammi Kruger won the girls 300 hurdles and took 2nd in the 100 hurdles. The athletes were battling some difficult conditions but we still saw some great times. The full results of the meet will be up online in the near future.

Dan Gabor Sprint and Distance Festival
What a great two days of racing for the Dan Gabor Sprint and Distance Festival. Friday saw some fast early season marks for our distance runners. The highlights of the evening were freshman Christine Bayliss' Top Ten marks in the 1600 and 3200 meters. Her time of 5:15.19 in the 1600 ranks her number 8 all time for that event. In the 3200, she catapulted up the list to number 2 with a time of 10:52, just a little over 3 seconds behind number 1 all time Tina Bowen. Should be an exciting season for her and the rest of our distance runners. On Saturday, we saw some impressive early season times for the sprints as well. Many runners saw their season and personal bests improve significantly from the early season time trials. The highlight of the day was Sarah Herron improving her 100 meter dash to 12.51, to move up the all time list in that event. Sarah ran that 100 time following an impressive 62.37 in the 400. Nice double! The full team will not compete again until our tri-meet on March 22, but the distance runners travel to Dublin for the distance festival next Saturday.
East Bay Invitational
The East Bay Invitational has come and gone but it was a great day yesterday at Monte Vista. The sun was shining, the racing was fast, and the field events were amazing. The EBI started great for San Ramon with 3 of the 4 distance medley relays winning, and the fourth coming in second. The varsity boys team shattered the previous meet record in their effort. The frosh-soph boys 4x100 relay team also set a meet record in their race. The varsity boys 4x800 relay team set a new meet record running 8 minutes flat. Freshman Sarah Herron was a double winner in the varsity girls 100 and long jump. Her time in the 100 of 12.67 puts her in the top ten in school history. Overall it was an outstanding day for the Wolves on the young season. Pictures and results to come soon!
Picture Day
Picture day will be Friday, March 16 at the start of practice. Athletes are required to wear their team shirt for the picture. If they do not have a team shirt they will need to share with a member of the opposite sex. Order forms will be available online shortly.
Conribution and Uniforms
The track and field team is asking for a $175 contribution to the team so we can run a top notch program. While we do not turn any one away for not paying, we are limited in what we are able to offer as a program if we do not receive adequate donations. Also, uniforms are on sale now. Please bring checks to Coach Stevens or Coach Hunter. Uniforms, sweatshirts, and tshirts may be picked up on Fridays after practice. Please make checks payable to "SRVHS Track and Field". Also, please put athletes name on the check as some parents have different last names or there are multiple people on the team with the same last name. It makes it easier to be accurate and so that athletes get the right stuff.
